Pentium D 820在绝大多数项目中拿到了第一名。

整机性能、CPU单项性能以及多媒体性能测试中，双物理核心的Pentium D 820占有很大优势。其中领先幅度较大的包括《Sandra2005》的CPU Benchmark、《Sysmark2004》的Internet Content Creation部分、《PCmark04》的CPU部分、《CINEBENCH2003》的CPU渲染和Mpeg2转Mpeg4的视频压缩。《CINEBENCH2003》的双CPU渲染模式较HT Pentium4快33秒，视频压缩快了大约两分钟。

3D游戏性能方面Pentium D 820让人失望，其实这也在预料之中，早先的测试也显示双Xeon的系统玩起游戏来不会比同频的Pentium4系统更高速，单核心、2MB L2 Cache的Pentium4 620在这个应用自中微弱超出其他两块CPU。

在娱乐显卡配合下，基本的专业3D应用里Pentium D 820稍快于两款单核心处理器，由于缺乏专业3D绘图卡，这部分的比较并不很具有可参考性。

最让人兴奋的测试部分是视频压缩和3D游戏的同步进行，Pentium D 820在这类真是应用中显示出威力！持续在前台运行3D游戏情况下，后台的视频压缩时间比单独压缩延长了19.4%，前台的3D游戏速度仅平均降低为单独运行下的90%；而对应的Pentium4处理器，视频压缩时间延长了61.9%，3D游戏速度平均降低为原来的60%。

最后

Pentium D的系统使用起来更像一部配置了双Xeon处理器的工作站，强调多任务下的强健性和极快的CPU运算能力。以这种CPU组建起来的PC比较适合作为具有多部PC家庭里的数字中心，它能够支撑多个应用的同时启动；当然这种PC也很适合视频处理工作者，Pentium D+945/955 Express系统的组建成本比Xeon+E7525要低得多，性能上却相当接近。不过如果你是打算用这种又新又贵的处理器来做你高速游戏PC的心脏，它的表现恐怕有点对不起你付出的大把银子了。
